The power of merit in the Zen context: A Dharma Talk by Shoho Kuebast

Saturday, November 6th at 10:00 - 11:30 am

  • Teacher  Rev. Shoho Kuebast
  • Date/Time  Saturday, November 6th at 10am
  • Location  AZC Online Zendo
  • Fee  By donation*

Shoho Kuebast received priest ordination from Vanja Palmers in the Kobun Chino Roshi lineage before moving from Germany to USA. She trained at the San Francisco Zen Center with Reb Anderson Roshi and served as Shuso in 2008 before leaving the Zen training to enrich her Buddhist understanding through Tibetan Buddhist practices. She is now studying with various teachers in the Nyingma tradition as well as within a Buddhist studies MA program online at the Rangjung Yeshe Institute, Kathmandu.

In the West, merit is the least understood Buddhist paradigm. And on top of  misunderstanding its function for the path of a Buddhist practitioner, some Zen stories have possibly added confusion to understanding it. In this talk we will discuss some possible misunderstandings of merit, unpack its power and explore ways it can be applied to our daily lives.
