In the meantime, chanting the Dai Hi Shin Darani of Great Compassion may be offered at any point – from soon after death (“pillow sutras”) to beyond the memorial ceremony date. This may be done by a priest, layperson, or group of people. After chanting, offer a dedication of merit to the departed, wishing for the positive energy to adorn their place of destination.
