2021 AZC Annual Membership Meeting

Mark B chanting for loving-kindness

We encourage and invite all current, lapsed, and prospective members of AZC to join us for our 2021 Annual Membership Meeting, following our regular Saturday morning meditation & chanting service. Due to the ongoing pandemic and the temple’s continued closure to the public, this meeting – led by your board of directors – will take place *online* from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm (in lieu of the regular Saturday morning Dharma talk).

Please NOTE: the Annual meeting will take place in a different zoom-room than our regular Saturday Morning Program, and you will need to RSVP below to receive the link.

At this meeting we’ll hear from the board of directors & practice leadership on the spiritual and financial health of our temple, and will have an opportunity to converse with other sangha members about membership topics that may arise. While the Annual Membership meeting has traditionally been the time for current pledging members to vote on incoming Board members, this year brings no new nominations to the Board. We will close with a brief ceremony in which we’ll chant for Loving-Kindness and virtually ‘sign’ the yearly membership book. We look forward to seeing you there!

Have questions or suggestions on what you’d like to see on the Annual Meeting agenda? Interested in finding out more about the Board of Directors? Please contact our acting Board President, Josh Kopin.

About the AZC Board of Directors: The Austin Zen Center is governed by a board of directors which includes a president, treasurer, secretary, between 2-6 general voting members, and the ex-officio, non-voting Head Teacher. The bylaws require the Board include at least 5 elected voting members who serve staggered three-year terms. Elections are held during the AZC Annual Meeting, usually in February or March. Directors have regular monthly meetings, and exercise ordinary business judgment in managing the affairs of the Austin Zen Center.
