A Message from Outgoing AZC Admin, Julie Strahan

I am a few months shy of two years at AZC, and I wanted to update the sangha on where life has taken me. My partner and I did a crazy thing and bought a house last April, a month after COVID shutdowns and all the madness began. With Austin prices being so high, and him working jobs out of San Antonio, we landed in Canyon Lake. It turns out that risky decision was a great one, as home prices have only continued to skyrocket. We are in love with our little home and enjoy being in the heart of the Hill Country with so much outdoor activity and beauty to offer.

With the commute to AZC possibly being an hour and a half with that pesky Austin traffic, we’ve known that AZC will need to hire a new Temple Office Administrator sooner than later! As AZC prepares for reopening, I myself will be making a new career move in the next few weeks. I’ve been so thankful that AZC has allowed me to work remotely during this time! While I still plan to continue my involvement and help with some tasks that can be done remotely, AZC will be looking to fill this crucial position for a new admin to interact with & support the community during this transition and beyond.

I’ve loved getting to know the amazing people in this community and hope to always have connections with AZC. This is such a special organization, and I have been made to feel so at home here thanks to our members and community. It’s been a joy to learn, grow, and work alongside Mako. She has such great vision for AZC and will continue to take the organization to great heights! I look forward to being a part of the continued success of Austin Zen Center and will keep the sangha updated as I journey on to my next chapter.

With gratitude,

Julie

Within the next week AZC will be posting a new job opening to try to fill Julie’s shoes as best we can. Stay tuned for more details, and please pardon the dust as we turn to this crucial next step in managing the affairs of our temple.
