AZC Visioning Community Council Meeting

February 26th @ 6:45 pm – 8:15 pm

As you may know, AZC has been exploring a variety of formats in which to increase community-wide diversity and dialogue. In preparation for our upcoming Annual Membership Meeting on March 7th we will be holding a Way of Council style Community Visioning meeting for all members and prospective members!

Come to hear fellow community members speak from the heart about what vision they have for Austin Zen Center as we embark into this new decade! All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

For this Community Council Meeting we will reflect on the question: What do I appreciate about Austin Zen Center and what would I like to see more of in next few years?

Join us on Wednesday eve, February 26th from 6:45 – 8:15pm for this 2020 Visioning Council Meeting!

ABOUT COUNCIL (from Center of Council): Council is an age-old practice that involves bringing people together in a circle to bear witness and share authentically. Participants agree to speak one-at-a-time, sharing personal stories and experiences (rather than opinions), and listen actively and non-judgmentally while others do the same. Sharing and listening to universal stories about love, loss, fear, triumph, challenge, hope and other experiences enables participants to recognize that, despite our many differences, we have much in common.

By fostering attentive listening and authentic expression, Council builds positive relationships between participants and neutralizes hierarchical dynamics formed by the inequality of status, race, or other social factors. It supports a deep sense of community and fosters recognition of a shared humanity and interconnectedness.  It enables individuals to give voice to their stories, develop mutual respect, cultivate a compassionate response to anger, defensiveness, and violence, as well as strengthen emotional health and resilience.
