The AZC kitchen remodeling project is nearing a big milestone. The committee expects to select a contractor within the next few weeks. The process has involved number crunching, much discussion of refrigerator capacity and noise, and painter’s tape to show where cabinets will extend and walls will be.
There’s lots of challenges remodeling in an over 100-year-old house that predates air conditioning, especially in these times of rising costs. And despite its shortcomings, the existing kitchen has served the sangha well. It will have a last chance to show its stuff during Kokyo Henkel’s five-day Denko-ē sesshin June 18-22.
The fundraising is cooking along, but there’s still a gap between current contributions and the goal of $80,000. Please consider making a generous donation if you haven’t already!
