AZC to Host 2021 Branching Streams Conference

TOPIC: To Be Determined by the Planning Committee
October 12-15th, 2021
Hosted by Austin Zen Center – Zenkei-Ji (Temple of Inconceivable Joy)

“Branching Streams” is the name for Dharma centers and sanghas affiliated with San Francisco Zen Center in the lineage of Shunryu Suzuki Roshi. Branching Streams grew out of a recognition by San Francisco Zen Center that affiliated sanghas both wanted and would benefit from a closer connection to SFZC and each other.

Meetings of affiliates are held about every 18 months. These meetings reinforce our close connection to the Suzuki Roshi teaching lineage and to each other, and create energy, develop camaraderie, and provide opportunities for mutual friendship and support. Branching Streams has nearly 75 affiliate member sanghas in seven countries.

AZC Director Tim Kroll and Practice Leader Pat Yingst attended last year’s conference in Milwaukee, and AZC Head Teacher Mako Voelkel and Ino Bruce Smith attended the 2017 conference in Chicago. In 2021 AZC will be hosting the Conference at the nearby (20 miles from AZC) Radha Madhav Dham in Bear Creek, TX. If you are interested in helping plan and organize this conference, please let Pat Yingst know.
