Dear Sangha,
After the amazing work to prepare our kitchen and dining room for the remodel to begin, our contractor has determined that we will need to follow a different and more intensive permit process with the City of Austin. Adjusting for this new reality, our permit application is being resubmitted and expected to be approved in early October. There will also be additional inspections that will extend the duration of work before we can close out the project.
The Remodel Committee and the Practice Committee have been working to adapt to this new timeline. The intention and sincere hope is that the work will be completed in time for Rohatsu in early December.
While this is not the situation we hoped for, it is the reality. I am grateful for the patience of the sangha and for the many donors who have contributed to this project. Please know that we are doing everything we can to minimize additional cost, delay and inconvenience. The Kitchen Remodel Committee is committed to giving regular updates and mitigating any impacts to our practice schedule going forward.
