One-Day Meditation Retreat – Sila, Samadhi, Prajna
Fall can be a busy time all over – including at AZC! And yet our practice is to discover the One Who Is Not Busy in each moment. Sometime this takes the form of carving out the space and time to come together and sit and walk in open awareness and silence, turning our hearts and minds to the question: “What is this?” The AZC Fall Practice Period kicks off with a One-Day Retreat in line with traditional Sōtō Zen forms and the topic of our Practice Period- The 3-Fold Training of Sila, Samadhi, Prajna.
(1) Śīla (moral conduct) makes one’s body and mind fit for concentration.
(2) Samadhi (meditation) – the ability to concentrate the mind as a prerequisite to attaining a clear vision of the truth.
(3) Prajńa (wisdom) is understood not as conventional empirical knowledge but as an intuitive experience of the ground of reality, attained in a state of samadhi.
ALL ARE WELCOME, whether you are participating in the Fall Practice Period or not! This retreat includes Oryoki Breakfast and Lunch.
Saturday, October 20th 6:00am – 5:00pm
