Annual Meeting

11am, Saturday, June 14, 2008

  The annual meeting is an opportunity for the membership of Austin  
Zen Center to participate in the business of running the non-profit  
corporate organization that is the Austin Zen Center. On the agenda  
are: State of the Center reports, describing new developments and  
trends of interest to the membership; election of new members to the  
AZC board; and light meal or snack.

There are two uncontested board positions to be filled with three- 
year terms. Our two candidates are as follows.

Betty Holmes

Betty Holmes is a licensed professional counseor intern with a  
longstanding Buddhist meditation practice. For over a decade, she has  
studied with American-born Lama Surya Das in the Dzogchen lineage of  
Tibetan Buddhism and with Tenshin Reb Anderson of the San Francisco  
Zen Center. She is extensively trained in Internal Family Systems,  
Hakomi Loving Presence, Emotional Intelligence and the Gottman Method  
Couples Therapy, and she is a facilitator for the Sacred Vocation  
program of the U.T. Health Science Center at Houston. Betty currently  
serves on the board of the Houston Zen Center and has also served on  
the board of Seton Cove and as a founding board member of the Austin  
Zen Center.
Claudia Martinez-Castañòn

Claudia Martinez-Castañòn’s professional background includes working  
for a variety of industries that range from globally positioned  
business, the airline industry, and academic organizations.  She is  
currently employed as executive assistant in the K-16 Education  
Center at the University of Texas at Austin.  She has lived in  
Mexico, where she was born, France and the US, and she has done  
volunteer work for the SPCA of Central Texas, Hospice Austin, and the  
A.C. and Judy Green Creative Writing Scholarship. She started formal  
meditation practice in 2000, when she joined Austin Zen Center and  
considers this practice the core of her spiritual life.
