[Discussion-AZC] Tassajara

I am nervously following the news of the Tassajara fire like so many
others are.  My sadness and concern is mixed with a deep sense of pride
and reverence for the work of our friend Colin Gipson.  Colin is one of
the people who stayed with the monastery when it was evacuated.  I was
completely unsurprised that Colin was one of the ones who chose to stay,
and similarly unsurprised that he is now one of the people entrusted
with a daunting task by the S.F. Zen Center.
 
Colin grew up as a Zen student in our temple.  He is one of the most
down-to-earth, straightforward, and capable people I know.  I haven't
talked to Colin in a long time, but consider him a good friend and an
inspiration in how to practice while being myself in my given life.  I
trust the flames will know better than to mess with him.
