Dear Sangha, Thanks for all the well wishes.  Sorry I didn't see a  
couple e-mails that asked if he'd like a visitor.  He
would have,but I am taking him home today (I believe).  It actually  
turned out that his care and diagnosis
are a bit of a relief.  He has been coughing non stop for months and  
getting less and less air and more and
more unable to do much. It turns out to be heart not lung and there  
is much more that can be done to help
than with lungs, so we are optimistic.  Again, thanks for your
