Dear Sangha,
A fun and sweet ceremony to celebrate Buddha's birthday was held on
Saturday morning. We decorated cakes, heard the story of the birth
of the Buddha,
used flowers from our garden to make a lovely pagoda with some help
from flowering
plants brought for the occasion. Thank you especially to Susan and
Jackie for the cakes,
flowers and efforts.
On April 26 there is a traditional 5:30 - 8:30 sitting with oryoki
meals. John Grimes will
lead it and give the talk. We try to offer at least one sesshin type
sitting a month. Join us if
you can.
We have bowls to sell if you would like to make your own cloths and
own your own oryoki set. Some are
lacquer and some wood grain and some ceramic. We can assist you in
making cloths.
Classes for spring start on May 6th and 8th for two of the classes
which run 8 weeks and
May 19th for my class which runs 6 weeks.
Wed. evening book group will meet this week - at 7:00.
May 3rd is a celebration of Buddhist Sanghas. I am sorry that I will
be in S.F. that week - but encourage
you all to come out and join other Buddhist groups in a celebration
of our sameness and difference!
Gassho, Barbara
